Black Skimmer hanging by the shore Black skimmer flying over the dune.

“Nesting
Breeds in colonies. Courtship not well studied, may involve zigzagging flight with two or more males pursuing one female. Nest site on ground on open sandy beach, shell bank, sandbar; sometimes on I really love the black skimmer in flight they are awkward a bit on the ground with their heavy beaks and short legs and torso… but in flight they are magnificent ! #ilm #wrightsvillebeach #audubon_nc We interrupt our Costa Rica programming to share this beautiful black skimmer … they have a longer bottom beak and skim through the water for fish and can fish at night as well since they fish by feel. So fun to have you guys down ! @pointames Monday mood

Iguana chilaxing on a log in Costa Rica

A group of photographers from @womencapturemagic have come together to share our love of nature. Get your dose of beauty today by following along the #womencapturemagicnatureloop More spider monkey fun! They are color blind so can’t tell the difference between green mangos and ripe yellow ones … they just go ahead and pick it and take a bite if it’s too green they toss it (watch your head!)

The Fifth Limb Beautiful orange trumpet flower blooms at Hacienda Doka Coffee …the tour and coffee were amazing! Such a beautiful hacienda with lots of flowers and birds and all of the history of coffee bean growing and harvesting. Thanks @pointamesandshoot Spider monkeys have prehensile (grasping) tails and hook-like fingers without opposable thumbs to enable them to swing through the trees and hang. Their long limbs and tail make them look like spiders as they hang in the trees. Coati

Coatis are excellent climbers and have double-jointed ankles that rotate 180 degrees, allowing them to scramble down tree trunks headfirst. They are in the raccoon family.
